We are citizens of the State of Texas, and we live in unincorporated and rural areas of the State of Texas. What that means is we do not live in a city that has a noise ordinance. Consequently, we live with the current and unworkable State of Texas noise statute that asserts that 85 decibels is acceptable. It is not.
NoiseFreeTexas.org is a petition drive to request our county officials, state senators and state representatives change the current noise statute from 85 decibels to 60 decibels. And we want the new statute to read the measurement shall be taken at the source of noise property line, not the complainant’s property line.
Excessive noise is unnecessary and unacceptable. It causes all kinds of problems for neighbors who live close to noisy venues and businesses, including health problems for the employees who work at these facilities.
